Runaway to the Stars: Page 57

Images that make you say "Ooh big stretch."

Transcript Talita stands at the threshold of her illuminated open door and waves goodbye to Gillie and Idrisah from as they walk away into the dark habitat dome. Now alone, she takes a big stretch that arches her back and sticks a rear leg and arm out. She fills a pitcher of water at the sink and sips it from the spout side, absentmindedly opening the curtain separating her bedroom from the rest of the apartment.

  1. I always forget that Talita is JACKED compared to regular centaurs. That flexing panel is so well drawn, I love that pose and dress on her ❤️

  2. big stretch panel really made me appreciate how pretty talita’s dress is, A++++ to her tailor

    1. I’m pretty sure she is her own tailor. I remember seeing somewhere all her cloths are custom for her

      1. I think she patches up her clothes when they need repair, but she often gets formal clothes like the dress from an in-person tailor, because of specific needs like her shoulders: https://jayeaton.site/Art/RttS/AMA/3

  3. I like to think of this as the calm before the proverbial storm.

    1. Definitely feels that way

  4. Reading this particularly strip the enormity of it all just struck me..
If someone still prints calendars in 2333..Some cheap calendar, nailed on a prefab-wall, something I will never see.
I will have been dead and gone for some 280 years. My grave somewhere on Dirtball Terra.
Maybe paved over. A house or a parking-lot standing on it.
No-one will remember us or even care..Just some dead Gits from the long gone Digital Dark Age.
I know this is all make-believe but just think of all the things we will miss.
Alien species, entire new cultures with their own History, cuisine, movies, plays, planets…
Everything to completely loose yourself in.
To be able to board a spaceship , flip Terra the finger and……Just go……Anywhere.
Out there in the big Black and look for a bright shiny little diamond of a new world.
I cannot express just how much I envy those people who will experience something that.

    Lucky bastards.

    1. Imagine how someone 280 years ago would’ve felt about planes now. To just be able to flip your home land the finger and have it disappear over the horizon in minutes. To easily just go anywhere.
      Lucky bastards we are.

    2. Dang, there’s our daily dose of existential dread.

There’s also the fact that everything we know and love now will either become completely forgotten, seen as some ancient relic of a forgotten era, or become the basis for something mundane or mainstream (like that bit about game streams on an earlier page)

    3. Thanks to denial I’m immortal!

  5. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeg stretch

  6. Stretch now, before the clutter fills up the space again.
(Take heart, Talita, your habitual space state is traditional. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-08-09/flinders-university-international-space-station-archaeology/104204750)

  7. it’s so easy to forget that talita is Ripped. I love this weird buff nerd with all my heart

  8. The more I think about it, species with more mass and volume would probably have a much harder time with piloted space exploration. Even early powered aeronautics would pose a challenge till higher thrust to weight engines are developed.

    Beeg Streetch

  10. I really appreciate that there’s something visually interesting on every page, even for mundane sequences.

    1. Thanks! I think there’s a lot of beauty in everyday life and I try to portray that feeling in unusual fictional scenarios too.

      1. I’ve definitely felt that when reading the comic so far!

  11. Talita is so buff it’s insane

    1. Ooh big stretch

  12. oh there’s the current year. i swear it was mentioned previously but i couldn’t find it. anyway that makes benchy 318 years old

    1. Happy 318th, benchies!

  13. she’s just a big cat

    1. These days every time my lithe, athletic female cat moves I think of Talita.

  14. What would centaur yoga be like?

    1. Do you remember that scene in Brother Bear where the moose brothers are doing yoga?

  15. BIIIG STREEEETCH

    1. SHE DO BE BIIIG STRETCHY THO

  16. You were right, I did think “Ooo big stretch!”

  17. I love the (I presume) Jovian wind chime by her bed, it’s neat.

    1. She collects wind spinners and kinetic sculptures. Not much wind in this tiny habitat, so they go near the air vents.

  18. Bip reveal this weekend or next week???

  19. In fairness that’s the most satisfying-looking stretch I think I’ve ever seen

  20. oooobh biiiiig stretch

  21. We’re all on the same wavelength about the oughh big stretch

  22. ooh big stretch

  23. Ooh big stretch.
    God, that looks so satisfying.

  24. i felt a great disturbance in the force, as if many voices suddenly cried out “OOOH BIG STRETCH”

  25. Sometimes you just have to drink an entire litre of water.

    1. Pretty much barily a pint to her though.

Im actually kind of reminded of that one pic of shaquille o’neal drinking out of a normal sized water bottle and he makes it look like one of those tiny juice bottles from the candy aisle.

      1. I saw a picture of Andre the Giant holding a normal 12oz beer can and it looked like one of those little V8 cans in his fist.

      2. Now I need to see Talita holding a normal water bottle

  26. Lord, the thougt you put into even little things like what kind of cups Talita would have to drink out off, most people wouldn’t question if she drank out of a large “normal” cup, but no, her trunk means she would probably need a little lip bit to tuck under her trunk to drink.

    1. Cheevwut’s got one too, ‘cause of the whole inflexible lips thing

    2. According to the transcript, that’s a pitcher, it’s lucky that Talia could easily get a large drinking cup with a spout that’s also common enough that she didn’t need to make any modifications

  27. I really love the gesture with that panel. Very good stretch.

  28. OOHHHH BIG STRETCH!! Biiiiig stretch!!!

  29. Talita has a big stretch and a little sippy

  30. Me, seeing the second panel: “Ooh big stretch.”
    Me, reading the post: 👍
