The girls take some commemorative photos!
Personal computer and phone technology in RttS is supposed to be fairly modular and customizable, with a solid tactile feel (I hate hologram screens) but in retrospect I feel like I could have pushed that more visually. Designing tech and appliances isn't my creative strong suit, I need more practice.
Transcript
Three closeups of the trio's hands show them taking photos of the others on their mobile devices.Gillie takes a picture of Idrisah and Talita posed elaborately, back to back and holding hands over their heads. Live captions show Talita asking "Am I posing right?" While Idrisah laughs happily. Gillie's phone has a large rectangular screen with no buttons, and her hands are chubby and freckled with thick narrow nails somewhat resembling claws.
Idrisah takes a photo of Gillie and Talita kneeling with their hands supporting a large cartoon heart image that has been overlaid digitally. A photo filter has made their appearance very cartoony and a background starburst effect has been added behind them. Idrisah's hands are thin and expressively posed, and her phone has a screen block attached to a large camera block and a Tiiliitian tonal keyboard block. A small phone charm with a cat face bead dangles off the keyboard.
Talita takes a photo on her tablet of Idrisah blowing a raspberry on Gillie's cheek. Gillie grimaces, showing off sharp teeth as she playfully pushes her wife away. Talita's hands have naked palms and a short coating of horse fur-like feathers elsewhere, and her fingers end in dark pointed hooves. They make her large tablet with a manual key block look smaller than it is.

I imagine if there are holographic tech devices in RTTS, they’re the sort of things a business would use to look impressive/cutting edge/wealthy while sacrificing functionality. Kinda like those law firms in China which are using the transparent TVs in their windows to show off or those giant touchscreen map displays in some American malls.

I am disappointed we didn’t get to see a centaur smiling.* Given that meat sample, I suspect it would make Gillie’s fangs seem a little tame.
* The centaur teeth described by Heinlein in ‘Starman Jones’ were very impressive.

A little surprise it isn’t ‘rolling’ screens, something you can roll outwards to expand, but folds up extra small. We got (admittedly bad) prototypes of it today, and honestly feels like the next step in letting phones still get bigger screens without taking up tons of room.
Also avoids being a gimmicky hologram as well.

I think that she needs to use a stylus or her trunk to use the touch screen. She has buttons connected to her tablet to use instead of the screen.

Feathers wold still get in the way unless they can carry a static charge like skin can. I honestly expected her to just have a “finger cap”, a little rubber/latex end cap she can slip over a ‘hoove/nail”… huh, or maybe latex based hoove/nail paint, might be better. Just paint a couple of ‘nails’ and then she could use touch screens with ease.

Is Idrisah’s keyboard for a thing similar to the keyboard mic thing she was using in the office that helps her speak in Tiiliitian?

Transcript describes it as “Tiiliitian tonal keyboard”, so seems more likely it’s that than a keyboard for writing Tiiliitian. Their written language looks considerably more complex, but perhaps each character is composed with a combination of key presses?

I really love the details on this page. How Idrisah has a Tiiliitian keyboard. How Gillie has a live CC app. How Talita has manual buttons because she can’t use her hooves on the touchscreen. It is all so wonderful and says so much about the characters. Excellent page.

having a lot of fun imagining what the first picture looks like outside the frame, considering talita probably had to crouch down to idrisah’s height to pose for it.

The first picture is my favorite… I love the graceful dancing pose with Talita and Idrisah, with the little detail of the Speech-to-text app revealing Talita’s uncertainty in her pose. Plus the shot with Gillie’s filed down fingernails is cool to see.
Except, the second image is actually my favorite. I *adore* how Idrisah holds her phone so gently, and how its set to make Talita and Gillie look stylized. And her phone is so much more tactile than the others, with a wealth of large side buttons! Oh to have a tactile phone like that, complete with round, popout edge and kitty key chain!
Except, the third picture is definitely my favorite. I love how Talita’s cloven hoof hands are on full display here! And seeing the sheer joy of seeing Idrisah kiss Gillie, and Gillie reacting in that playful “HEE HEE NO NO NO HHEEEEEE” that just screams how in love the two are.
I think I’ll settle for saying that this whole page is my favorite thus far.
