Runaway to the Stars: Page 8

Wow, this place is a mess.

Transcript Talita looks deeper into the gash in the hull. The hole continues to the inner spine of the ship, where it has wounded the electronics. The torus-shaped living room is lying on its "side" and completely trashed, like a house flipped around by a tornado. Hundreds of phones spill outwards into the habitat module from boxes near the outer wall.
Talita: …Phones?

  1. Ohhh the way that central panel is done with Talita outside of it looking in like it’s a window is sooooooo cleverly composed

  2. OBSESSED WITH THE LAST PANEL. HER GOOGLERS. her eyebawls yet again. Ungodly amount of technology lying in front of her what could this mean for the future…

  3. There’s something softly tragic about this scene. You notice the phones first, of course, but then you spot the little keys, and then you look up a little, and there’s a kettle cluttered into the corner with a tissue box, still plugged into something…

  4. Fan of Most Everything

Heck yeah, comic from the guy behind Tiny Sapient Ungulates. This is definitely getting bookmarked.

    1. Yeah turns out I never stopped drawing nerdy ungulates with toe hooves

      1. I actually came about those doodles recently looking up some references for mlp and eohippus for a anthropology inspired mlp au centered around little ponies being eohippus with way too much thought put into how magic works (similar to atp but is processed out of crystalline structures like those found in grass) and was pleasantly surprised by their adorable adorableness (dawn ponies are more stylized and more of an original fan gen than an actual spec bio project)
I saw this rereading bc I know what talita actually sounds like now so it needs to go in my head while I’m reading

  5. Oh wow whatever hit it went ALL the way through, dang!

  6. The second panel would be such a good reaction image 💀

  7. Totally normal cellphones, no need to check for malware.

  8. Jeez, something must have punched right through. Which is easy given the speed and force of things moving with no resistance in space. But given that this was the habitat module… nothing good happened to the crew, probably. :C

  9. Ten million piles of Bip on the floor, ten million piles of Biiiiiip~

    1. Pick one up, pass it around, nine million piles of Bip on the floor-

      1. the damage to the ship looks even scarier now. With the personal connection of it being a centaur ship, and centaurs having only been in space for a short time, it makes it all the more disturbing. I really enjoy the use of light and dark in the first two panels, it really makes the inside and outside clear and makes the scene more intimate.

  10. Oh hello Bip :>
Also I love how you play with panels/framing this is lovely…

  11. Oh no.
    it’s bip.

  12. There are so many cool things about this page. Love how the webcomic starts like a horror movie.

  13. oh what has Blip been up to

  14. Oh.
I remember a twitter anecdote about a rather rebellious AI that had self upload into 10,000 phones for a reason. I also remember thatTalita quickly ran into big trouble with this AI that has particularly… annoying. Oh boy, I can already see the scene of chaos it’s going to be in the base..

  15. love Talita’s big ol roundie shiny eyes

  16. this page is gorgeous….

  17. I love that Talita is holding the frame of the page

    1. Ooooh, I didnt notice that detail right away! what a fun way to play w panels

    2. Originally the background panel was presented on its own; but some readers seemed confused about where Talita was relative to the scene, or if she’d entered the ship. I added her at the edge of the panel because it seemed like the easiest way to clarify it.

  18. I have a feeling I know what caused this now…

Also my username is not referring to the movie, and I’m not implying this ship went to hell
